CARTERTON NEWS.

(Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. The Bowling C'mb Committee met last evening to make arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the Wellington Bowling Centre. The match will probably be played on the local green on the lOih, and the Wairarapa players will consist of two rinks each from Masterton, and Greytown, three from Carterton and one from Featherston. The visitors are to be entertained at lur.ch by the home Club. Mr Sidney Reid, the well-known local horseman, has again had the misfortune to sustain a broken collar bone, the second time within a very short period. Thj collision of two vehicles in High street soon after noon to-day, created some excitement at the marvellous escape of two ladies and a child in one of the vehicles, which was capsized. It appears both vehicles were passing at the intersection of Belvedere and High street, and being pressed for morn the shafts of the vehicle driven by the ladies got caught in the wheel of the other. One of the ladies sustained some face abrasions and a bruised leg, the other lady and child escaping with shock. Mr W. De Lacey, who is visiting his people here, lost a quantity of his personal effects in the Herbertville Hotel fire on Saturday last, having left them when he was staying there.
