Deakin), in reply to the "Daily Mail's" enquiry for his opinion on Mr Griffith's proposal with reference o reform of the House of Lords, says he prefers not to criticise a scheme so vague. The Hon. A. Fisher, Leader of the Labour Party, and ex-Federal Premier, cabled—"l think any attempt to drag the Dominions into the Constitutional dispute between the Comrrons and the Lords is unstatesrnanlike mid mischievous^'

Following is the result cf the election for Edinburgh and St. Andrew's Universities:— Right Hon Sir R. Finlay, K.C , Unionist 5.205 Mr Simpson, Liberal 2.693 Unionist majorty 2.512 All the ele tion results are now to hand except that for Orkney and Shetland, which is a scattered island electorate.
