SEDDON MEMORIAL.
IN ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL UNVEILING CEREMONY. EULOGY BY THE DUKE OF ARGYLL. United Press Association— ay ciiectric Telegraph Copyright. Received February 11, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, February 10. Two hundred persons were present at the unveiling of the memorial panel of the lale Mr R. J. Seddon, Premier of Ne*> Zealand, in the Crypt of St. Paul's Cathedral, including Mrs Morice (Mr Seridon's daughter], the Mayor of St. Helens, Mr T. Glover (Labour member for St. Helens), Lord Strathcona. High Commissioner for Canada, Mr J. McCall, Apent General lor Tasmania, the Ctuitess of Raiifuv'w (ovife of a former Governor of tne Dominion), Major Robinson, and n any New Zealanders.
Prior to the unveiling the Duke of Argyll, who performed the ceremony, read cabl grams from Sir Joseph Ward, New Zealand Premier, and from Mrs Seddon, widow of the late Premier.
His Grace then delivered an eloquent eulogy ot Mr Seddon. He said the memorial was erected as a mark of affection for the man, and of respect for the statesman. Following Sir George Grey's brave advice, Mr Seddon became the most trusted leader in all Australia. He gave no uncertain voice when the call came to prove the union of the Empire, and New Zealand responded nobly, sending ten contingents to South Africa. "His spirit still guides New Zealand's Councils," continued the Duke. "She is foremost in the desire to be represented in our fleets. Now, in the centre of the Smpire he served, we honour his memory and gratefully record his services for his King and country. We revere his example and deplore his loss." The Hon. W. Hall-Jones, New Zealand High Commissioner, on behalf of the people and Government of the Dominion, committed the memorial to the Dean and Chapter's charge. Archdeacon Sinclair, in accepting i the trust, said: "It will be an added pleasure to our historical associations."
