Wage The secretary of the Education Board wrote thanking the Trustees for the grant of £32 15b for the District High School and £l2 10s for the Mufeum. , Ihe Wellington Education Board i also wrote thanking the Trusses for , the offer of a site and building I for the Museum, but deferring j acceptance of same until inspected i y their clerk of works. Mr H. W. Jackson wrote in connection with accepting lease of five sections of ground part S.D. 39 under the conditions offered, at £7 10s fcr fourtee'n years. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., wrote forwarding a copy of the Masierton Trust Lands Exchange Bill. The secretary of the Wellington' Har: our Board forwarded cheque for balance of loan of ±'3,800. Mr M. L. Loweis wrote offering to t ke No. 3 shop in the new brick buiLing at 50d per week for ten year?. Mr A. R. Bunny forwarded assignment of lease R. V. Hosking to A. Hosking for consent of Trustees. Mr Bert Syverston wrote asking for a continuation of the scholarship grant. The matter was left for the incoming Trustees to deal with. Mr N. D. Bunting, secretary of the Masterton Technical School, wrote asking the Trustees to nominate someone fvr the election of Managers of the Technical School, It was decided that Messrs W. H. Jackson and C. E. Daniel 1 be nominated by the Trustees for the position. A letter was received from the Captain of the Fire Police, in regard to smoking in the pit of the Town Hall. •The treasurer's report stated that the credit balance at Bank of New South Wales was £1,327 Is 14d; rents received £l3l 0s 2d; Wellington Harbour Board loan, £4Bl 16s lOd; Town Hall accounts, £32 5s 2d. Reports were received in connection with the Dew building, grading and draining yard, and right of way, Museum, and Jackson's lease. Accounts amounting to £920 2s 2d were passed for payment. Mr F. Waldegrave, secretary to the Department of Justice, wrote forwarding a copy of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust Bill.
On the motion of Mr Caselberg, seconded by Mr Pragnell, it was decided that the Minister for Justice be asked when he is prepared to com- j piete the exchange of sites; that the j T rust is prepared to pay the sum of £IOO, equality of exchange when- j ever the Minister decides to give j effect to the exchange; that the at- | te uion of the Minister be directed to ; the ract that Masterton is badly in j need of a new courthouse, towards j the erection of which a sum of j £3,000 has been place, > the Parlia- | mentary Estimates. \ The Masterton ' brass Band wrote intimating th£ Band wouid play at the Post Ofi-S corner on Sunday night. It was decided that the Band be asked not to play between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m., as it would interfere with the Church services. The secretary of the St. John Ambularce Brigade wiote asking the Trustees to assist the Committee in the n;a,tter of prizes fur competition?, literary, musical, and cookery at the forthcoming Bazaar. It was also pointed out that as it was generally understood that the objects of the Trust was to assist educational movements in the district and lor the puposes of public utility. After a great deal of discussion it was decided on the motion of Mr Pragnell, seconded Mr Caselberg, it was decided to grant the sum of £5 5s towards the prize fund. It was also decided that the alloca-
tion of the amount for the different competitions be left to the Bazaar Committee. It was decided to adopt the report of the committee appointed to fix the amount of rent for the new Trust brick building with a provision that the amounts of rents named be modified to a reasonable limit by the committee. Mr Krahagen stated that he noticed that seme of the patrons of the dress, circle in the Town Hall insisted on walking on the plush seats. This practice was not only destroying the property of the Trust, but it was annoying to the ladies. He had biought the matter before the Trustees, and he thought they might suggest some remedy to stop it. On the motion of Mr Jackson, it was decided that the secretary request dress circle ushers to report to bim the names of personß walking over the plush seats in the dre.s circle. .... •* On the motion of Mr Jackson it was decided that in order to effectively light the pit of the Town Hall that a lamp be erected, and also that a Louvre ventilator be inserted at the top of the wall at the back of the pit giving connection between the sta'ircase, hall and the outside air. ~ , The matter of giving a display in the after -oon or evening of the new Trust building was left in the hands of the chairman to arrange.
