AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The new programme presented at the Foresters' Hall last night, surpassed all expectations. The capacity of the building was fully taxed to hold the large number of patrons. "Down the Iser on a Raft" is a fine scenic and industrial subject, and had a worthy mate in "Conquering the Jungfrau" in the Alps. The dramatic portion of the programme is j exceptionally strong, and the Masterton public have the privilege of seeing some of the best in this class of subject. "The Bridge of Sighs" is a drama from real life, and although the theme is old, one cannot watch this picture without being moved. Another beautiful drama entitled "A Child of the Forest" was presented, and it deDicts in a most powerful manner the love and hate among the early pioneers of America and the Red Skins. "The Bride of Tabaviva" is another Indian drama, and created great applause. '"lhe Dunlop Road Race" is a fine ui'cture ot the great race from Warnambool to Melbourne, and gives every detail. The comic subjects' as usual proved very laughable, especially "The Wishbone," "A Difficult Pa-in-law," and "The Drawbacks of Fame." This programme will be repeated tonight and to-morrow, and a new series will appear on Monday.
