MINEOWNERS DECLINE CONFERENCE. TILL MEN RETURN TO WORK. United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph Copyright. SYDNEY, February 5. The Northern owners have declined the men's request for a conference, and have intimated that they had nothing further to add to their letter of 12th Novvember, in which they made it clear that they would not confer with the men until they returned to work. BROKEN KILL WORKS CLOSING DOWN. SIX HUNDRED MEN IDLE. SYDNEY. February 5. Owing to the shortage of coal at the ore dressing mills, the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine has been shut I down, throwing 600 men out of work.
