Sir Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in the course of a speech at Hexham, Northumberland, said the elections showed that there would be a British majority for Liberalism, while the Conservative and Tariff Reform Party would be dependent on the Irish for any chance of ejecting the Government.
