G. J. Maritz, the South African Rhodes scholar now at Oxford, who has figured so prominently aa a threequarter lately, hails from tie famouaVictoria College,Stell?nbosch. He played half back in this year's
Freshmen's match, and seems equally at home in both positions. He has a future. The Hudciersfield team, who won the Yorkshire Northern Union Cup at Headinglev this year, have a powerful record for the tournament. They have scored 98 points against the 11 Doints of their four opponents, and Hull Kingston Rovers in the first round were the only team to score a try. Edgar Wrigley, the ex-Red Star player, is a member of the Huddersfiekl team. England defeated Wales in Northern Union football on the Wakefield Trinity Ground on December 4th by 19 to 13, or 5 tries and 2 goals to 3 trie 3 and 2 goals; 4.000 people present. The English team includsd no Colonials.
