AMUSEMENTS.

THE SCARLET TROUBaDOURS. The bright and charming combination of English artists, popularly known as the Scarlet Troubadours, from London, are announced to pay a return visit to Masterton on Tuesday next, at the Town Hall. The personnel includes Miss Gertrude Parker, late principal ?oubrette wit'i Mr Ge rge Edwards' London companies; Miss Maude Fane, soprano from the Lyric Theatre, Londor.; Mr Sydney Mannering, formerly pr ncipai tenor with the Moody-Manners Opsra Company, Messrs Alfred Cunningharo, Ford Watham, EdwarJ WarwMc and Mr Claude Leplastrier. The box plan is now open at Miss Rives.

"A COUNTRY GIRL. 1 On Friday next, at the Town Hall, theatregoers are to have for one night J. C. Williamson's New Comic Opera Company. The occasion will be signalled by a special presentation of the very charming musical play "A Country Girl." Somewhat of a red-letter night is predicted as the company is spoken of as being something much out of the ordinary. For principals none of higher distinction have ever appeared here. Mr Herbert Clayton is an artist from the best English theatres, whilst Mr W. S. Percy, is the well-known fine comedia-i. Of the ladies, Miss Dorothy Court and Miss Lottie Sargeant one from the Savoy Theatre, and the other from the Gaiety Theatre, London, are spoken of as being artists of the first water. Again Miss Olive Godwin, Australia's soprano, ar.d Miss Ivy Scott, should be a tower of strength. The whole enterprise has been transplanted direct from H.M. Theatre, Sydney, where "A Country Girl" has recently enjoyed a record season of nine weeks. There are over one hundred people appearing in the play, which by the way has the great advantage of a specially augmented orchestra under the leadership of Mr Fritz Hart —a grand operatic chorus and splendid ballet. The forthcoming production of "A Country Girl" is likely to be worth going a long journey to see. The box plan will be opened at Miss Rive's on Tuesday.
