MR J. C. WILLIAMSON'S NEW DRAMATIC COMPANY.
Theatre goers of Masterton will doubtless be interested ifj the an nouncement that this attraction, which is now playing a record Christmas season in Wellington, is to visit Masterton on the 17th January for a season of one night, when "The Cheat" will be presented on a scale of magnificence seldom seen in the local theatre. "The Cheat" is an elaborate military drama, which is spoken, of as being strongly dramatic and spectacular. The play is new to Masterton, but achieved great success during its run in Australia, and has i won fresh laurels in Wellington, ' Christchurch and Dunedin, where it is spoken of by contemporary critics in most enthusiastic terms of praise as a "magnificent play of absorbing" interest, never flagging action, and fascinating romance." The company is one of exceptions strength, including such names as Messrs Geo. S. Titheradge, Thomas Kingston, Cyril Mackay, A. E. Greenaway, R. Carey, Boyd Irwin, Harry Phmmer. T. Lloyd, Roland Staveley, Gregan McMahon, L. Hardinge, P. Harcourt, 0., Morse, Lewis Waller junr, i<'red Carnbourne, Eardley Turner, and other wellknown artists of standing. The leading lady is Miss Ethel Warwick, who was specially engaged in London for this tour, during which she has won golden opinions and unstinted praise for her great talent and personal charm. Other ladies in the company are Miss Emma Temple, Miss Nellie Calin, Miss Marjorie Murray, Miss Ethel Gordon, Miss Elwyn Harvey, and Miss Maud Wingfield. The scenery and mounting will be the same in every detail as that being used during the present Wellington season. Box plans of reserved seats will be opened at Miss Rive's next Thursday morning.
