EXCITING VOYAGE.
A GALE AND A CO^LISrN.
Received January 6, 10.55 p.m. MELBOURNE, January 6. The French barque Mareschal De Turenne, from New York, has arrived here. The vessel encountered a severe gale on December 28th. Huge seas swept over the decks. One carried Captain Perrott and the third officer overboard. The latter had taken the precaution to lash himself to a post, and was aboard. Captain Perrott as not missed for a quarter of an hour, and was not again seen, he was married a month before leaving New York. A few days after starting the voyage the barque in a fog at midnight collided with an unknown vessel, receiving a slanting blow on the starboard above the water line, doing considerable damage. The other vessel continued on her voyage and was not again seen.
