Mr Bowling;, President of the Miners' Federation, denies the report that he intends to ask the miners to accept the decision of a Wages Board. Received January 6, 9.35 p.m. LONDON, January 6. Four thousand Durham and twenty thousand Northumberland miners who are idle, repudiate the conditions their executive arranged, preferring a general strike against the principle of three shifts. The feeling against the executive is so acute that it may jeopardise the elections of Messrs Burt and Fenwick, and the miners' candidates at the forthcoming general elections. ,

The New Zealand Federated Slaughtermen, comprising between 600 and 700 men, are demanding from employers throughout New Zea- ! land a uniform rate of 25s per 100 j' for slaughtering with an eight-hour day. j Notice was served on the Wellingj tou Meat Export Company to-day, under section 9 of the Arbitration I Act, which requires fourteen days' | notice, that the men will cease work | if their demands. are not complied with.
