MARTINBOROUGH SPORTS.
The annua) sports gatheringg under the auspices of the Martinborough Caledonian Society, took place on Monday last. There was a good attendance, and the sports were a decided success from every point of view. Good entries were received, and in several of the events some close finishes resulted. A great deal of the success of the sports is due to the effort of the courteous and energetic secretary, Mr F. McAllum. Following are the results:—150 Yards Maiden.—E. Bates 1, Fuller 2. Time, 16sec. Martinborough Handicap.—First distance 100 yards: Bates 12yds, 1; Sevens 7yds. 2: Fuller 12yds, 3. Time, 9 2-ssec. Martinborough Handicap, 220 yds: Bates 20yds, 1; Fuller 20yds, 2; Bannister 15yds, 3. Time, 21 2-ssec. Martinboiough Handicap, 440 yds : Fuller 40yds. 1;*-Bates 40yds, 2; Bannister 28yds, 3 Needle Threading.—Warrington 1, Hodge 2. Basrpipe Music, Maiden.-—McKen-zie 1, Mclvor 2. Bagpioe Music, marches.—Scott 1, Sutherland 2. One Mile Handicap.-—S. Hall 30yds 1; A. Dudson 2.
