A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING
By Telegraph—Special to the Age. PONGAROA, Dec. 28. The Pongaroa Sports were held yesterday. The weather was fine, and there was a good attendance of the public. Some good finishes resulted, namely in the Half Mile Handicap, and Standing Chop, Eustege losing the event by a blow. The results Were as follow: Maiden.—F. Eustege 1, S. McDonald 2; 100 Yards Handicap.— McAtamany 1, J. Eustege 2, F. Eustege 3. 220 Yards Handicap.—J. Eustege 1, McAtamany 2, Isles 3. 220 Yards (local).—lsles 1, Atkins 2, Murray 3. 440 Yards Handicap. • McAtamany 1, J. Eustege 'Z, Wyeth 3. 880 sfards Handicap.—Wyeth, Alderwick 2, J. Eustege 3. One mile.— Alderwick 1, Wyeth 2. 50 Yards Handicap.—F. Eustege 1, Carter 2, McDonald 3. One Mile Walk. —J. Bambry scr. 1, A. Eustege 2, Whitta 3. Chopping.— Perkins 1, F. Eustege 2, Harris 3. Hewing.—Perkins 1, Harris 2, Hart 3. Married Mens Race. —Lankey 1, BSairshall 2. Tug of War.—Pongaroa 1,- Weber 2. Kicking the Football ■— Fulcher 1. A dance was held in the even ing and proved most e,n joyable.
