ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DROWNED WHILE BATHING. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 20. * Vincent Maloney, aged 18, was drowned at Karaka Beach, near Pukekohe, yesterday. A party of young men went to the beach for fishing, and Maloney and John Best went in to bathe. Maloney got into the channel, which is narrow, but eight feet deep. He was a poor swimmer, and was soon in difficulties. Best went to his assistance, but was v pulled under, having great difficulty in saving himself. Maloney's body was found an hour later. "He was the son of a widow living at Puni. INJURED BY A VEHICLE. AUCKLAND, December 20. Robert Book, an inmate of the Castley Home, whj was injured by a vehicle on 13th September, has died in the hospital.
