December 15. Mrs Duff, of the London Bakery, had a valuable trap horse severely iniured last Sunday. While it was in the paddock it rolled on a broken bottle and inflicted a severe wound which necessitated the services of the local vet. The booking for the Town Hall for 1910 are as follow:—January Ist, Williams Comedy Company: January 7th, Taylor Carrington Company; January 24th, Scarlet Troubadours; JtUa Toa Concert; February 10th, High School Entertainment; February 24th and 25th, Methodist Bazaar; September 7th, Hugh Ward Comedy Company. The Miramar Fireworks will give a display here on . Monday next, in ihe local Reserve. The Public Schooi closed on Wednesday for the summer holidays. The bowling tournament on Thursday for the Booth Cup ended in an easy victory for Carterton. The following were the scores. Carterton. Grey town. A buggy accident occurred on Thursday evening at Papawai Corner. The vehicle was driven by a native named hoppi, and also contained two Maori women. The horse took fright at a reaper and binder which was coming along the road, and swerving capsized the buggy. The occupants were thrown out, and the horse bolted up the street and finally collided with a high-boarded fence smashing the body of the buggy. The occupants escaped with a few bruises. Notwithstanding the defeat the men received at the hands of the Carterton bowlers the Grey town ladies have issued a challenge to the

Carterton Cluo to play a friendly game. The farmers are already calling out for more rain, and the milk supply at the local factory is showing a slight falling off.
