SERIOUS RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

By Telegraph Press Association. UHkISTCHURCH, December 6. A serious railway accident happened at Methver. this morning, just before the morning train left for Chriatchurch. A railway porter named Frank Sturgess, whilst engaged in shunting operations, got jammed between two trucks. It seems there were two loaded waggons "kicked" on to one ot the sidings by the engine, a-id owing to a strong north-west wmJ blowing at the time, the waggons were going beyond their required distance. Sturgess was engaged putting the brake on, but before he cou d get this done another truck came up from behind and caught him cutting and bruising his thigh and legs very bady.
