THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
The capacity of the Foresters' Hall was severely taxed last night, to welcome the usual Wednesday night change of programme. The Masterton public are not to be denied when anything good is to be seen, and those who braved the elements last night were not disappointed. The new pictures are excellent, and well uphold Thompson and Payne's reputation in t\e picture line. A fine film of the "Life of Joan of Arc," gives a good detailed conception of the famous Maid of Orleans, from the vision in the garden until her tragic death at the stake in the market place, Rouen. The romantic story of John Smith and the brave Indian heroine "Pocahantas" is well worth seeing. There are several other fine dramatic subjects of great merit. Some fine educational films are shown, namely, "Life in the British Navy," and "Paper Pulp Making in Canada." The comic subjects are well up to the high standard set by Messrs Thomp son and Payne, and caused great laughter. This programme will be repeated to marrow and Friday evenings, and also on Saturday afternoon. There will be a complete change on Saturday night. Ml S. Pearson, the local manager, has received word that the proprietors are importing a number of splendid dramatic, scenic and comic films from England, America and the Continent, and which have caused no small sensation wherever shown. These pictures will shortly be shown in Masterton.
