DEATH OF T. J. M'CARTHY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 24. The inquest concerning the death of Thos. Joseph McCarthy, a farmer, of Masterton, who met his death on the railway at Upper Hutt on Monday night was resumed to-day. Victor Samuel, postal clerk, said that the deceased had complained to him a week ago of worry and fainting fits.
Albert Thns. Almond, a passenger by the same train as the deceased, had noticed that deceased appeared mentally worried on the journey. He was of a restless temperament. Harry Ernest Samuel Banks, the guard, stated that he found the deceased lyine on the ground when the train reached Upper Hutt. His legs appeared to be caught in the step of the carriage. He did no 4 ; expla'n the accident on the way to Wellington. He was conscious and mora or le-:s rational. He seemed excited, but improved considerably by the time the train got to Silverstream. At Belmont a passenger called witness into the carriage, when the man appeared to be dead.
The inquest was further adjourned until to' morrow.
