ST. MATTHEW'S GARDEN FETE.

TO-DAY. The garden fete in aid of S. Matthew's Church building fund will open this afternoon, on the Masterton Showgrounds, Dixon Street, The procession will I'jave the Post Office at ha|f-past one, and on arrival at th« grounds the sports will commence and the various stalls will oe thrown open to the public. The following are the stalls and the stall holders .-—Flower stall, Mias Meredith; work of art stall, Mrs W. H. Hosking; produce atall, Mtsdames Coker and Wimsett; refreshment stall, Mesdames Ashton and Sutton ; plain work stall, Mrs Morgan ; decorative competitions, Mrs Mackersey; sweets stall, Mrs Cook;, cool drinks, Mrs Winzenberg; button holes, Miss Richnrda; fancy stall,, Miss Beatrice Mackersey; tobaccoand cigarette stall, Misses Morgan; post anditelegraph, Masters La Roche and Ashton.

During ihe afternoon there will be numerous attractions in the way of side shuws, a. flower show,, and the entries for the various competitions will be on exhibition. Mrs Kendall's pupils will perform the Maypole Dance at 3,45 p..m.., and also a fc eight o'clock, in. the evening.

At intervals, commencing at 2 o'clock the programme of sports, details of which are published ini the advertisement on the front page of this issue,, willi be carried out. This includes a grand parade of exhibits at 2;30> and a fancy dress hockey, match at 4.3,0. The mounted events,, five in aJL. should, cause plenty of amusement..

The grounds, will be re-opened in the evening; at 7:30, when the various stalls will resume business and a grand concert and minstrel entertainment vfiii take place. The fete will be continued to-mor-row evening,, from 5.30 p..m. till 10 p.m., the programme for which will appear in to-morrow's issue.
