THE NEW RAILWAY TIMETABLE.
ACTION BY MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. KEPRESENTATIVE CONFERENCE TO BE. HELD.
No further information is to band regarding the proposed alterations to the Wairarapa and Forty-mile Bush railway timetable, than that which appeared in yesterday's issue of the Wairarapa Age. The new proposals formed the chief topic of conversa tian in business circles yesterday, and the alterations were criticised most severely. K.een dissatisfaction exists over the fact that oniy two trains are to be run north of Master • ton, viz., the early train from Cross' .Creek and the firßt train from '+* Wellington. is felt that this arrangement will not be tolerated by Bush residents, for the last train to leave bere for the North is timed at aboat midday. The slowness of trains and ton apparent absence of a fast through service to Wellington was also strongly commented on. The Stationmaster (Mr Falla) was inter viewed by a representative of this journal yesterday afternoon, but he was not prepared to express any opinion beyond the fact that he had i received no word from the Depart- * menfc as to what service they intended to i s itute. The Maaterton Chamber of Commerce has definitely decided to hold a conference, which has been arranged to take place in Masterton on Tuesday next at ( 2 p.m. The following bodies have been circularised asking them to send delegate* to the meeting:—Borough Councils, Masterton, Carterton, Grey town, Eketahuna, Pabiatua; Counties, Mastertan, South, Wairarapa. Featherston, Eketahuna, Pahiatua, Mauriceville ; Town Boards, Featherston and Martjinborough; Chambers of Commerce, Carterton, Eketahuna. Greytown, Pahiatua, It is expected that the outcome of the conference will be the appointment of an influential deputation to interview the Minister for Railwayg,
