AN ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINMENT. A very enjoyable interpretation of portions of Shakespeare's comedy "As You Like It" was given lasc evening in connection with the Knox Church Young People's Association. The characters in suitable costume, which were without exception well and most creditably pour tray ed were as-follow:—The Duke, Mr. H. H. Reynolds; Jacques, Mr D. Hebenton; Oliver, Mr J. Gray; Orlando, Mr W. E. Chamberlain; Adain, Mr H. H. Sutton;. Touchstone, Mr E. R. Wilson; Corin, and William, Mr A. Wheeler; Siloius, Mr R. Messenger; Rosalind, Celia, Fhebe, Audrey and Hymen, Misses N. Hogg, W. Daniel, W. Logan, E. locker and Williams, respectively.
The play began with the banishment of Rosalind by her uncle, the usurper, and this" fair lady attired in boy's clothes, makes the principal figure in the various scenes that follow, amid the environs of the Forest ot Arden, until everything ends as it should with wedding bells and joy on alf sides. It is diffii cult to single out individual per- ! formers for each one rendered his or her part in a manner which deserved the praise bestowed by the fairly large audience that assembled. Miss Hogg, as Rosalind, is, however, deserving of special mention, her performance showing a thoroughness that gave evidence of much study. In fact the performance was a most enjoyable one all through. A pianoforte selection by Miss McKenzie and a song by Mr G. V. Gordon were much appreciated.
