AUSTRALASIAN WOOL CLIP.
Maasi-i Dalgety and Company, Lt \ have issued their clip estimate for season 1909-10 for export only, the quantity taken for Australasian home consumption is omitted. The estimates compare with the production of the previous two seasons as under: New South Wales, 1909 10, 985,000 bates, 1908 9 973,000 bales, 1907-8 856,000 Dales; Victoria, 295,000, 289,000, 300,000; Queensland, 330, • 000, 289,000, 235,000; South Australia, 165.000, 152,000. 143,000; West Australia, 72,000, 59,000, 52,000; Tasmania, 36,000, 34,000, 34,000; Commonwealth, 1,883,000, 1,796,000, 1,620,000; New Zealand, 505,000, 492,00, 437,000; Totals.— 2,388.000, 2,288,000, 2,057,000. It is stated in an explanatory note that the production figures are based upon the exports given in the Customs returns. Last season (1908-9) there was an abnormal movement in wool shipments, a g»-eat deal of the 1907-8 clip being shipped in 1908-9 season, as well as a large quantity of what would, had previous conditions prevailed, had formed part of the 1909-10 clip, 'lhe quantity shiipped out of season in 1908-9 is estimated at 150,000 bales. The estimated increase for the current season is 100,000 bales, of which the Commonwrath contributes 87,00 bales, ani New Zealand 13,000 bales. Taking the average price at, say, £ls per bale, the season's clip should fetch the respectable sum of £35,820,000, of which New Zealand's share should be about £7,575,000.
