(From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. At a sitting of the .Police Court this morning, a man mnamed Arthur J. Clayton was charged with having assaulted a Maori woman named Tangi Hirini, by striking her and inflicting injuries necessitating medical aid. Accused pleaded r.ot guilty. A Ene of iJ. with costs 12s, was imposed, accused al3o to pay the medical expenses, amounting to £l. Thrte days were allowed in which to pay the fine, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
