The question o"f the validity ot wholesale liquor licenses in the King Country was raised some time ago. and the matter resolved itself into a point as to whether the area affected was or was not native land at the time of the issue of the proclamationofNo^icense. The Survey Department has reported that its investigations show tbe land was not native land when the proclamation was issued; therefore, the Hon. Dr. Findlay (Attor-ney-Genural) Is of opinion that the ** licenses cannot be attacked .on the ground of invalidity.
