HALLEY'S COMET.

SIGHTED IN EUROPEAN OB SERVATORIES. Received September 15, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, September 14. Professor Wolf, of Koenigstule Observatory, Heidelberg, - announces that Halley's comet was discovered there early on Sunday morning. Moreover, the comet was detected faintly on a photographic plate at Greenwich.

The comet will be visible with a telescope at the end of January next, visible as a morning star to the

naked eye towards the end of April, and as an evening star a month later, when it will be very near the earth.

Halley's comet —named after one of the greatest astronomers of Eng - land. performs its revolution in about. 75 ye«rs. It appeared as he predicted, in 1758. again in 1835, and was foretold to re-appear in 1910.
