Commanchr Peary's Polar expedi ■ tion, in the steamer Roosevelt, leaves Battle Harbour, Labrador, on Saturday for Sydney, Nova Scotia. Fifty reporters are awaiting the party's return. A telegram from Battle Harbour brings the statement, derived from members ol the expedition, who were on board the Roisevelt, that Commander Peary and one Eskimo alone reached the North Pole.

Received September 15, 11 p.m. NEW YOriK, September 15. Commander Peary has declared that he has concrete proof that Dr. Cook never reached the Pole. He awaits Dr Cook's statement before replying. He adds that the whole facts will probably be known shortly.
