FINANCE COMMITTEE.
A meeting ot the Finance Committee of the Council was held yesterday morning. The Treasurer re ported as follows:—General Fund Account, dr., £4,875 9s 7d; Local Bodies' Loans Account, cr. f £4,001 15s6d;Dr balance, £2.001 18s Gd. The receipts since August 10th, totalled £7l i4s lid. Accounts totalling £1,607 14s lOd were passed for pay ■ ment. It was resolved—"That the Treasurer be authorised to {fay to Mr S. Attenborrow the sum of £25, be- j ing the amount ui compensation agreed upon for land taken from him for the purpose of widening the Upper Plain Koad; that,, provided * the Mauricevilld County Council and the Government agree to bear with this Council an equal proportion of cost, iho committee recommends that the sum of £ls be expended out of the Alfredton riding funds in prospecting for metal in Brown's pit on 1 Barton's line; that the action of • the chairman in granting a month's leave of j absence to the County Engineer be approved. The report was adopted.
