SANITARY INSPECTION.
THE QUESTION OF AN EFFICIENT SYSTEM:
At the meeting of the Finance Committee of the .» aster ton Borough Council, yesterday, a letter was received from Dr Frengley, District Health, Officer, with reference to the sanitary inspection of the various districts, v stating that the following resolutions had been passed at the conferenca of delegates of the local bodies interested, which was field at Carterton recently, "That the delegates are of the opinion that it is desirable that an efficient system of sanitary inspection be maintained in the district, controlled by the local authorities of the district; that the .appointment and control ot the Sanitary Inspector be placed in the hands of the Department of Public Health; that the following amounts be submitted by the District Health Officer to the local authorities interested with a recommendation that they adopt the same: Carterton Borough Council, £3O per annum; Grey town Borough Council, £23: Masterton County Council, £35; South Wairarapa County Council £26, Featherston County Council, £23; Maryborough Town Board, £2O; Featherston Town Board, £ls. With a view to incieas- \ ing the efficiency of the sjßtem he advised that in all districts the I Inspector provided by the Department should also be appointed an Inspector I under the Local Governing Act, and I by-laws pertaining to sanitation. In Boroughs and Town Board areas he would also be Inspector of Buildings. It was recommended by the Fin- ' ance Committee that the Council j agree to the proposals, and at .the | meeting of the Council, held sub- \ sequently, the recommendation was j adopted. ______ mmt _ mm _ mmmmmmm
