CARTERTON NEWS.

(From Our Resident Correspondent) Saturday. Mr and Mrs Seth Hart, of this town, will celebrate their diamond wedding to-morrow, Arrangements have been made by the Methodists and other friends to celebrate the unique event at a social on Monday evening. Dr ft. Fyffe, of St. Feter'a Church, Wellington, gave a recital on the handsome pedal pipe organ, which has been presented to St, Mark's Church in the memory of the late Rev. William Booth. A short service was held prior to the recital, the Rev. R. Young, vicar, being assisted by the Rev. Page, of St. Luke's Church, Greytown, Mr Claughton, of St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, presided at the organ for the seryice. This morning, on the local showgrounds, a hockey match between the Hinekoa (Blenheim ladies) who are touring the Wairarapa, and-Kiwi (Dalefieid) was played, the match ending in a draw, each side scoring two goals. Miss P. Ashton hit the two goals for Kiwis, ard Miss Mogridge secured one, the Kiwis' goal-

keeper putting the other through for Hinekoa by a mis-stroke. This morning the roof of the Brick and Tile Works took, fire owing to the hot kiln. The afarm was sounded on the firebell, but the staff at the works were able to subdue the flames before the brigade had time to reach the scene. The damage done was only slight.
