MASSACRES AND CANNIBALISM.

Cannibals, near Herbertshohe, the seat of Government of the Bismarck Archipelago, an.l the German Solomon Islands, captured three natives and killed and ate them. A serious rising is feared'among the natives, who massacred the Catholic missionaries a few years back. They have massacred eight natives.

News from New Britain states that Lindsay, the owner of a recruiting vessel, who was reported yesterday to have been killed and eaten, roused the anger of the natives by carrying off some boys and girls. The natives set upon him and clubbed his brains out, and similarly dealt with the crew, consisting of ten natives,
