JACK AND JILL.

The announcement of the advent of J. Q. Williamson's Pantomime in Masterton is sure to create widespread interest among theatre goers cf Masterton. Not only is the Pantomime itself said to surpass every previous achievement of this enterprising firm in the grandeur of spectacular display, but the company presenting it is numerically and otherwise said to be the strongest combination that has ever visited New Zealand. The seasons in Christchurch, Auckland and Dunedin having even beaten the brilliant records of the redoubtable "Mother Goose." Prominent among the list of artists are:—Miss Stella Gastelle, the popular English pantomime boy; Miss Betty Ohls appears as Jill, and one cannot imagine a more dainty actress for the character; Miss Stella Selbourne, Miss Olga Grey, Mias Nance Maher and Miss Lena Ericson are among the ladies of the cast. Mr J. M. Campbell and Mr Fred Leslie are the leading comedians, and the humour of the piece could not be in more able hands. They, however, receive valuable assistance in their merrymaking from Messrs Victor Loydel, Geo. Young, Rupert Darrell, and Clyde Cook. Mr Walter Stanton contributes the remarkable impersonation of a Giant Rooster, with which he made the hit of the London Lyceum pantomime last year. Messs Morris and Wilson appear in some of their clever animal impersonations, and their special novelties are too numerous to mention here. The ballets, marches, ensembles, etc., are said to surpass anything previously seen in New Zealand, the corps do ballet alone numbering 100 dancers. Box plans will be opened at Miss Rive's next Saturday morning 28th August. Special arrangements have been made for booking at the Town Hall from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, after which the booking office will be at Miss Rive's, as usual.
