A forest fire recalling those at Pernie in August last year, is raging in the Kootenan district.
Tijnfaer valued at a million dollars, many sawmills and several bridges on the Nelson-Roseland railway have been burned.
Valuable timber limits along the Arrow Lake are now burning and the forests near Oreston. The inhabitants of the town are safe.
