The committee formed in con- I ruction with the forthcoming j Bachelors' Bull he-Id a well attend- ] ed meeting on Friday evening, when it was decided to hold the ball in the schoolroom on Friday, 27th inst. Tno arrangements are in the hands of a .strong cornuiittee, with far Val VeiiiK-ll as acting secretary, arid an excellent evening's enjoyment may be con .id ;..tly l;oked forward to. Many of the farmers in this district are ssriously considering the advisability of acquiring motor biK'gies to tcks the place of the usual hcrse bogpy. It in quite probable that we imty see sevtral these conveyances in the To Wharau disrttc bi'fore many months have pas sed, as the roads arc in a better condition than they have been for some iimi. The football match which war *- have taken place at Homewood i •&. Saturday hhi, to be postponed uv/m->; to several of the players beinir •umil to attend. Consequently many or the Ijcal "sports" proceeded to Gladstone to witness the match between Gladstone and Stars, and their enthusiasm was rewarded as one of the best contested matches seen this season wss played, and ended in a draw. The Home wood--Carswella match will be played next Saturday The -"airship" craze has so far not reached Te Wharau, although several of our most level headed citizens have lately v.een r.oliced casting thier eyes heavenwards, evidently i-*i the hope ot seeing tne airship- so shortly we may have some fresh theory to propound.
