Superintendent T. Jenkins, of the Masterton Fire Brigade, wrote stating that during last month, Captain Hannah, Controller of Government Fire Appliances, had visited Master 0.1. Mr O. Pragnell, Chairman of the MastertonjFire Board and him' self had thought it advisable to take advantage of the visit and make an inspection of the Town Hall. This was done, and at the request of Mr Pragnell, the writer submitted for j the consideration of the Trustees several matters in connection with the Are escapes and fire appliances, etc., which if given effect to would tend to minimise the danger from fire and panic. EscaDes from the dress circle—Put a door at each side leading to the cloak rooms and a passage way up the centre of the circle. Cas brackets—All gas brackets on wood walls to be fixtures to prevent their being turned back against the w?lls; the gas jet on the stairs landing to be removed an account of its proximity to the woodwork of the ceiling. The hose in the body of tthe hall to be fixed in proper brackets and lengthened to about 60 feet to allow for its going under the stage, and tho couplings to be made workable. Railvay iron fenders to be put to the fireplaces of the dreaeing rooms 'at the rear of the stage. It would also be an advantage if the tower bolts on the escap3 doors were replaced with double action iron lever bolts.
