PROHIBITION OP TASMANIAN POTATOES, United Press Association— ay u.cotrtc Telegraph Copyright. Received August 11, 10.40 p.m. SYDNEY August 11. The Minister of Agriculture declined to entertain the request of a deputation of wholesale produce dealers not to enforce the total prohibition of Tastnanin potatoes. The deputation urged stringent inspection to meet the case, and contended that many k condemned potatoes were suffering from other diseases, and not the Irish blight. The Minister declared that he was determined to adopt the measure, no matter how drastic to protect the potato growers of the State, He also considered the prohibition of other root crops grown in diseased fields. Received August 11, 10.40"pTnr" MELBOURNE, August 11. The Government Pathologist reports the discovery of £lriah blight among potatoes in the Fish Creek district in Gippsland.
