RACING. final gallops at riccarton. % Telegraph—Press Association.. CHRISTCHURCH, August 9. At Riccarton this morning the final gallops were held in fine weather. Auratus covered five furlongs in lmin 7isec, finishing strongly. Federal did half a mile in 49 4-sdec. Iney and Iranui finished together at the end ot half a mile, done in 51 l-ssec. Penates gallqped half a mile in 51 l-ssec. and finished badly. Grenadier, however, sprinted five : | furlongs in lmin 4sec, finishing well. All Guns did half a mile in 50 3 5 sec. Capitol and Te Arai finished the last five furlongs of two circuits in lmin lOsec —a good piece of work, and both going well at the finish. Scotty beat Ringman over six furlongs. Diplomatic went fairly well over the sod wall and the double jump. Tauira covered a mile and a-half in 2min 46 4-ssec, doing his best at the finish. Exmoor started twenty lengths in front of Tauira. presumably to set the pace. Tauira was, unable to get on terms, though he greatly reduced the gap. Irish will not be. a starter to-mor-row. Tyrant and Luperin have been railed home. Gold Shower is an unlikely starter.
