WAS IT A TIGER?
SYDNEY, July 24. Police reports discredit the existence of the Mount Kembla tiger. They attribute the mysterious roaring* to a pugnacious bull. It is considered that Dr Scott's injuries resulted from his falling over a log or a cow. It was reported last week that Dr Scott and a miner had been attacked by an animal, supposed to be a tiger, in the Mount Kembla district. The doctor received a wound on the head. Several reports as to the supposed tiger have recently appeared in Australian papers. A man named M'Mahon stated that while he was tiding a bicycle along a road, 17 miles from Bourke, he saw a large tiger cross the road, about 40 yards in front of him. The animal travelled about 50 yards, and lay under a tree.
