MINER'S ACT OF HEROISM.

MELBOURNE, July 24. At a public meeting at Bendigo, it was decided to bring the heroism of Davis, who dragged ah injured mate into a place of safety just as a dynamite charge exploded, to the notice of the Governor-General. The <tovernor of Victoria (Sir Thomas Carmichael) will open a subscription to suitably recognise one ot the most self-sacrificing efforts in the history of Australian mining.
