SUICIDE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 19. The body of a young man, subsequently identified as that of Harold M. Stevenson, 21 years of was found in the Avon River near the Hereford Street Bridge ihis morning by a Council employee who was claring weeds out of the river. It appears that Stevenson was very despondent prior. to leaving his home on June 16th last. He hired a double barrelled gun frojn - a second-' hand dealer, and was last seen alive riding along Colombo Street on the date mentioned. Subsequently a gun containng two discharged cartridges and with peices of string attached to the triggers, 1 was found in river. When the body was examined this morning a gunshot wound was fnund in the left temple. At the inquest to-n : ght a verdict of death from a self-inflicted gunshot wouni was returned.
