AMUSEMENTS.

TAYLOR-CARRINGTON PICTURED.

The "star" film tr. be presented at the Town Hall, to-night, by the Tay-lor-Carrington management is entitled "Saved by Wireless." It is to be a most realistic and up-to-date series of pictures illustrative of the thrilling' drama that was enacted on the ocean off the American Coast, last January, on the occasion of the collision of the steamers "Republic" and "Florida," when some hundreds of human lives were saved through the heroic action of the wireless telegraph operator, John Binns, who, though only a mere lad, stuck to his post even when his ship was sinking, and by means ot signals by wireless telegraphy brought the S.S. "Baltic" to the rescue, and so earned for himself the praise and esteem of the whole world. Thi3 with a fine assortment of scenic, comic and dramatic pictures, should provide an excellent programme. Seats may be reserved at Miss Rive's.

POLLARD'S JUVENILE OPERA COMPANY. After a most successful Northern tour Pollard's Juvenile Opera Compay is about to visit us once more. When produced by the Company in Wellington last March it drew crowded houses for ten nights, and the verdict of the playgoers of the Empire City was that it was a great all-round performance. On Thursday Lecoq's worldfamed comic opera "Manola," one of the brightest and most melodious of the French school of opera bouffe, will be staaed. The pieces will be staged up to the usual Pollard standard. The box plan will be opened at Miss Rive's on Monday morning.
