PHYSICAL CULTURE DISPLAY.

TOWN HALL, TO-NIGHT,

An interesting and instructive entertainment is to be given in the Town Hall, Masterton, this evening, when the physical culture classes of Mr R. 0. Jarrett, instructor to the Y.M.C.A. classes, will srive a display, showing the strides made by the pupils in the classes for the first term. Sixty pupils are taking part in the display, and from reports received as to their progress those who attend at the Town Hall to-night will be treated to a splendid exhibition of results of modern body training. The system taught by Mr Jarrett is prin- ) cipally on the lines laid down by that world-famed physical mod.-l. Mr Eugen Sandow. The Boy Scouts—a lately formed and most enthusiastic department of the Association—will give a display of physical rtfill and ambulance work on active service lines. Mr Jarrett will Rive an attractive exhibition of fire club swinging, which should in itself be a feature of the display. The physical display by the general body of physical culture pupils will comprise many interesting evolutions, including human pyramids, towers, and walis.

It is intended that the entertainment shall serve as a welcome to the new general secretary, Mr Alfred Snowball and faimly. Mr H. N. Holmes, the secretary of the Wellington Y.M.C.A., has arranged to be present, and he will give a speech of some importance, concerinng the work of the Association so far as Masterton Is concerned. I Mr J. McGregor, senr., weliI known as a first-class public sneaker, will also deliver a short address pertaining to various matters connected withh the Y.M.C.A. work. His Worship the Mayor, Mr P. L. Hollings, will preside. Instrumental and vocal musical items will give the programme a still more pleasant colour, and alto gether the entertainment is worthy of the fullest support of the public.
