VIOLENT SPEECHES.
UNEMPLOYED AT BROKEN HILL. MUCH DISTRESS PREVAILING. DESPERATE REMEDIES SUGGE 3TED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. SYDNEY, July 3. Violent speeches are being delivered at Broken Hill by Socialists and unemployed. One sneaker stated that many people were actually starving, and they would have to burn down hovels in order to make employment in rebuilding. There was much talk of looting shops, throwing bombs, and drenching the streets with blood, if nothing was done to alleviate the prevailing conditions by Saturday. The Mayor of the town has telegraphed to the State Premier (Mr Wade) asking him to provide relief works or relief food supplies.
