STORMY WEATHER.
By Telegraph—Press • Association. AUCKLAND. July 3. A north-east gale is blowing. Vessels arriving report very stormy weather The barque Empreza, from New castle, and bound* for Giaborne, put in for shelter last night. - Mr Devereux, meteorolo/ist at Waihi, telegraphed yesterday : "A fierce. easterly gale is raging here. It is the heaviest for a considerable period, and is estimated to have a velocity of thirty milas an hour. The rain-is intense. The barograph indicates an increase in the severity of the gale." At 9.30 this morning the postmistress gave notice to the Auckland head office that she was closing her office and going home. Sha stated that she would be out off by flood water if she remaind any longer at her post. NAPIER, July 4. An easterly storm with a good deal of rain visited Napier, yesterday, but ended during last night.
