CLOSING OF ACUKLAND HOTELS. By Telegraph—Pres3 Association. AUCKLAND, June 25. The current hotel licenses will expire on Wednesday next, and on that date various hotels, which have failed renewals of licenses as a result of the last local option poll, will close their bars. The number of hotels in the Auckland district that will be closed will be 28, of which 14 are in Ohinemuri and four in Eden, in both of which districts No-license was carried. The closing of remaining 10 hotels has been brought about by reduction. With the view of lightening the blow that, is t<» fall on the licensees of the five hotels that are to b ; ) closed in the city, the Auckland Licensed Victuallers' Association has Zdecided to make a canvas among members with a view of collecting £I,OOO to be equally divided among the hotelkeepers affected.
