MANAWATU WINTER SHOW.

The Manawatu Winter Show was | continued to-rfay in fiie but gloomy \ weaiiv-r. The attendance was again I very large, ex r ursinn ti-'in- bringing j large contingents of visitors from | different parts of the district. The judging was completed to-day, j with the poultry, utility closes and fat stock. j The principnl winners in poetry were:—R Bannister, Brahmas; E. H. Holland, Bjnnythorpe, Lnngshar.s; H. Holland, B. J. McCormi'ck, Aitchison and Son, and J. Green, d'vidde honours in Leghorns; S. R. : Lancaster was the principal exhibi- ' tor in Plymouth Rocks: C, H. j Pickering, Palmerston, beir.g the j rrnst successful competitor in the j white varieties; H. Guthrie, Wellington,secured all the firsts in Black Orpingtons; Mrs S; Rcul, Lower Woodlands, and Mr W, Heslcp, Wanganui, divided the honours in Buff Orpingtons, C. 11. Pickeing being the only exhioitor in whites. In Silver Wyandottes there was big competition, and the successful exhibitors were:—Wellington breeders, Iremonger and and Currie; Mrs Heslop, Wanganui; and A. Hickling, Mangahao, also secured firbt?. Brown, Matamau, secured two firsts in whites, and C. J. Hansard, Dannevirke, J. Robson, Marton, the other firsts. T. Harvey, Palmerston North, and 0. H. Burnett, divided the honours in the Partridge varieties. Two Managtainoka breeders, R. A. Williams and Sarah uowan, divided honours in Minorcas and Brown Leghorns. R. Young, E. H. Holland and J D. Iremonger secured firsts in any other variety, in Leghorns, Manguson, Eketahuna, and J. Goodwin, Dannevirke, were the most successful exhibitors.. The entries thirf year were not so numerous, but the judge, Mr Casey, of Lower Hutt, considered the quality throughout excellent. F. S. Mcßae and FT. F. Arkwright were the principal prize takers in the fat sheep classes, and E. White and Slack Bros, in pigs.
