Cardiff, which includes amongst players known in New Zealand, Dyke, Johnnie Williams, Willie Morgan and Percy Bush, has again won the Welsh championship for the season. W. Tyler, who was a member of the New Zealand professional team that went Home to play under Northern Union rules, is now playing the Australian game in Auckland, being one of the Eden Club's best men. J. F Williams, the Welsh international forward, who was a member of the Anglo-Welsh team, was given a cordial farewell dinner at the London Welsh Club early in April. He has accepted a Government appointment fn Nigeria.
In the, match Newport and the London Welsh recently there were two brothers Jones on one side and one on the other—Jack P. Jones and D. Ponty Jones were playing for Newport, and their brother Tuan in the London Welsh. There was another Jones playing for the London Welsh, and two Jenkinses, while Newport had one Jenkins. A correspondent asks the Sydney "Referee" which country could place the finest Rugby fifteen in the field.
The answer is: "This is a matter about which opinions will vary very much, though I should not hesitate to plump for New ZeJand. Under equal conditions I fanny New Zealand against Wales every time." There are some excellent forwards playing in Christchurch this season, and the play is of a very high standard, which augurs well for interprovincial contests. A pleasing feature is the number of promoted juniors, who are consistently .playing well. As if to balance things, the teams with sterling packs have inferior rearguards, while teams that have combination worthy of the name behind the scrum have much the poorer forwards. The forwards as a class are superior to the backs. NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received June 4, 9.25 p.m. SYDNEY,, June 4.
