CARTERTON NEWS.

From Our Resident Reporter. Friday. The dog is still carrying on operations here, the latest victim being an §lrish terrier belonging to Mr A. Peden. Thejannual meeting of the Bowling Club was held last evening, Mr H. McPhee presiding. The report and balance sheet, the latter showing a credit of £B4 4s 2d, were read and adopted. Messrs W. Moore end W. F. Roydhouse were presented with the trophies won by them in thejpairs tournament, and promised similar ones for competition next year. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P.; President, Mr W. F. Koydhouse; Vice-President, Mr W. Whyte; Hon. Secretary, Mr Philipotts; treasurer, Mr Ramsay; auditor, Mr Jotin Brown; general committee, Messrs J. M. Lightfoot, H. McPhee, W. T. Masson, W. Downard, F. Lindop, G. Leach, and D. Reid; fmatch committee,• Messrs Whyte, Philipotts, and green committee, Dr. Johnston and Mi W. Fisher; refreshment committee, Messrb Roydhouse and Downard. Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring officers. The proposal of the Masterton bowlers that|a Wairarapa team selected from all the clubs should arrange a match with Wellington some time during the season was referred to the general committee.

As a mark of esteem upon resigning the position of choirmaster at the local Methodist Church, Mr Goldsmith was last evening entertained by the members and presented with a pretty silver and cut class inkstand. Mr and Mrs Goldsmith leave here on Monday for Gisborne.
