SOUTH WAIRARAPA TROTTING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. (Special Reporter ) The Club was once again most fortunate in the matter of weather, and the attendance wa3 very large. In all respects the meeting ranked as a record one, the fields being large throughout, the running decidedly interesting, while the totalisator turnover amounted to £2,514 for seven events. The officials worked well together, and carried out their duties most commendably, and the secretary, Mr W. Armstrong, again proved his fitness for the position. The Greytown Brass Band rendered a much appreciated programme of music, and the whole assemblage appeared to enjoy the spcrt provided. Following were the results:— MAIDEN TROT, 20 sovs., one mile. T. A. Walker's Glenidol, T. W. Cunningham 1 Q. C. Manson's Jackaroo, C. Manson 2 J. H. August's Child Agnes, Owner 3 Latakia, Taumata, Colombo, Deborah, Lonsdale, Madame Melba, Bill Squires, Black Temple also started. Won by two lengths. Time, 2min 35secs. LADIES' BRACELET TROT, 25 sovs.. one mile. B. Shadbolt's Little Mary, 15 sees, H. Smalley 1 R. T. Sanson's Te Awahuri, 15 sees, Owner 2 R. M. Coates' Rothschild Lad, 6secs, R. Coates 3 Child Douglas, Child Agnes/Glory, Arthur's Mistake, Deborah, Giggles, Gather-no-Moss. Scamper, Ironwjod, Rosechild, Eclat, and Auctioneer 11. also started. Scamper, with Child Agnes next, led round the back. Before reaching the straight Little Mary got to the front, and Won by two lengths. Time, 2min 38£secs. Scamper finished in third place, but was disqualified for th* race through starting too soon, and the driver was fined £l. GREYTOWN TROT HANDICAP, 100 sovs., 2 miles. D. Nyhan's Havoc, 24secs, D. Nyhan 1 W. Clarkson's Bonniewood, 34 sec, R. Mclnnea 2 F. A. Piper's Besique, 32secs, W. A. Price 3 Lilla Huon, Madame Melba, Conqueror, Albert H, Kirikiriwa, and Houhere also ran. Lilla Huon led j for nearly a mile, but passing the j stand the leading order was Besique, I Havoc and Bonniewood. On rounding the home turn Bonniewood and Havoc Were together, and in a good finish the latter scored nicely by a length. Time. smin 12secs.
BIRTHDAY TROT, 35sovs., one mile. D. McKenzie's Receiver, 3secs, C. F. Giesen 1 R. M. Coates' Rothschild Lad, "lOsecV R. Coates ■* 2 A. Sydney's Rosechild, 6secs, D. Morgan 3 All Steel, Child Douelas, Parkvale, Madame Melba, Rawene. Fairfield 11., Lonsdale and Maud also ran. Rothchild Lad was in front most of the way, but at the finish gave way to Receiver, wno won by a couple of lengths. Time, 2min 39secs. TAMAHAU MAHUPUKU HANDI> CAP, 45sovs.. two miles. J. Cheegeiilsn'fl Dick G, 12secs, D. Nyhan - . "i R. T. Sanson's Te Awariiirl; 22secs, Owner 2 B. Wadham's Brookholm, 18secs, R. Maxted 3 Scamper, Bonrriewood, Welcome Mary, lronwood, Eclat and Kirikiriwa made up the. field. Won by five lengths. Time. smin KEMPTON PARK TROT, 40sovs., \\ mile. H. J. Wcodfield's Alice Maud, 26secfi, W. Plaskett 1 Q. C. Manson's Jackaroo, 38 sees, D. Morgan 2 A. Cameron's Gather-no-Moss, 27secs, W. R. Wilson 3 AH Steel, Rothschild Lad, Conqueror, Receiver, Cedar, Albert H, and Houhere also started. Alice Maud got to the front before a mile had been traversed, and won by a length from Jackaroo. Time, Hrnin 52secs. PRESIDENT'S TROT, 35 sovs., one % mile. H. J. Woodfield's Alice Maud, 13 sees, W. Plaskett 1 W. Halpin's Madame Melba, 21 ' sees, D. Morgan 2 W. D. Watson's Auctioneer 11., acr, J. Greig 3 Lilla Huon, Giggles, Black Temple, Little Mary, Besique, Rosechild, and Jungle were the other starters. Madame Melba was in front at the half mile post, but at the far turn Alice Maud joined her, and with a fine turn of speed won by six lengths Time, 2min 31 sees.
