SEVERE GALES.
Received June 4, 12.35 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 3. The Ester arrived to-day from Hokianga, leaking badly. She encountered severe gales on May 2nd and 3rd. and sprang a-leak. She ran into another gale on the Wednesday, and was roughly handled, a portion of the bulwarks being smashed. The leak increased, but the crew kept hard at work at the pumpp,. There was four feet of water in the hold when the vessel reached the harbour.
